It is with a deep sense of pride and responsibility that the Portuguese Volleyball Federation hosts, for the first time, the final phase of the U22 Men’s European Championship. This organization represents more than just a sporting event; it is an unequivocal demonstration of the CEV’s confidence in our organizational capacity and a historic milestone for national Volleyball. Investing in this competition is a strategic step toward rooting the sport among younger generations. This European Championship will serve as a boost to the remarkable work developed by our youth national teams. In 2024, we achieved the historic feat of qualifying five teams for European final phase — U18 Men, U20 Women, U22 Women, U22 Men, and Senior Men — joined by the Senior Women’s team in 2025. This proves that the strength of Volleyball lies in the talent and dreams of young athletes aspiring to reach the senior level. In this mission, we count on the support of the Government and the Municipality of Albufeira, the European City of Sport 2026. Hosting this final in Albufeira is a fair return on the continuous support provided by the City Council. We believe this event will accelerate sporting growth in the Algarve region, granting unparalleled visibility and prestige to national sports and our country. Beyond high-level competition, this European Championship is a space for socializing and sharing. Sport must be a vehicle for solidarity, fair play, and unity, promoting a spirit of fraternity and universalism — values that Portugal, since the Age of Discovery, has always promoted throughout Human History. We extend a warm welcome to all national teams, CEV o icials, referees, and all other participants. We are certain that, in addition to sporting excellence and the beauty of the region, you will be greeted with our traditional hospitality, returning home with the very best memories of Portugal. Esta organização representa mais do que um evento desportivo; é uma demonstração inequívoca de confiança da CEV na nossa capacidade organizativa e um marco histórico para o Voleibol nacional. A aposta nesta competição é um passo estratégico para o enraizamento da modalidade entre os mais jovens. Este Europeu servirá de impulso ao trabalho notável que as nossas seleções de formação têm desenvolvido. Em 2024, alcançámos o feito histórico de apurar cinco seleções para fases finais europeias – Sub-18 masculinos, Sub-20 femininos, Sub-22 femininos, Sub-22 masculinos e Seniores masculinos –, às quais se juntou a Seleção de Seniores femininos em 2025, provando que a força do Voleibol reside no talento e no sonho dos jovens que aspiram chegar ao patamar das seleções seniores. Nesta missão, contamos com o apoio do Governo e do Município de Albufeira, a Cidade Europeia do Desporto 2026. A realização desta final em Albufeira é um justo retorno ao apoio contínuo da Câmara Municipal. Acreditamos que este evento irá acelerar o crescimento desportivo na região algarvia, conferindo uma visibilidade e prestígio ímpares ao desporto nacional e ao nosso País. Para além da alta competição, este Europeu é um espaço de convívio e partilha. O desporto deve ser um veículo de solidariedade, fair-play e união, promovendo o espírito de fraternidade e o universalismo – valores que Portugal, desde os Descobrimentos, sempre promoveu na História da Humanidade.
