Dear Volleyball friends, The city of Albufeira in the region of Algarve is soon due to welcome a good share of Europe’s stars in the making for the Final Round of this year’s #EuroVolleyU22M. This competition represents an ideal platform for many up-and- coming players to display their skills and continue with their own development as well as to ensure their seamless and smooth transition to the senior ranks. With this in mind and judging from past experiences, I am confident that many of the players competing in Albufeira will soon become household names for all Volleyball fans across Europe. This competition is obviously special for the home side – especially as Portugal continues to grow the game and prepares the next generation that will soon be called to represent the country at the highest level on the international stage. The event in Albufeira also continues the close partnership that the CEV has established with the Portuguese Volleyball Federation (FPV) for the organisation of major events – such as last year’s Beach Volley Nations Cup Final delivered with much success in Espinho. As I thank the FPV and the local authorities for their hard work, support, and the good cooperation in ensuring a successful championship, I wish all involved much fun and the best of luck! Esta competição representa a plataforma ideal para que muitos jogadores em ascensão demonstrem as suas competências e continuem o seu desenvolvimento, garantindo uma transição harmoniosa e fluida para os escalões seniores. Com isto em mente, e a julgar por experiências passadas, estou confiante de que muitos dos jogadores que competirão em Albufeira tornar-se-ão em breve nomes familiares para todos os adeptos de Voleibol por toda a Europa. Esta competição é, obviamente, especial para a equipa da casa – especialmente numa altura em que Portugal continua a fazer crescer a modalidade e prepara a próxima geração que em breve será chamada a representar o país ao mais alto nível no panorama internacional. O evento em Albufeira dá também continuidade à estreita parceria que a CEV estabeleceu com a Federação Portuguesa de Voleibol (FPV) para a organização de grandes eventos – como foi o caso da final da Beach Volley Nations Cup no ano passado, realizada com grande sucesso em Espinho. Agradeço à FPV e às autoridades locais pelo seu árduo trabalho, apoio e boa cooperação para garantir um campeonato de sucesso e desejo a todos os envolvidos muita diversão e a melhor das sortes!
