IN THE EUROPEAN COMPETITIONS

AJ Fonte Bastardo unfortuante’s night came with a tie-break loss against Euphony Asse-Lennik, for CEV Challenge Cup, in a match held at the Vitorino Nemésio Sports Complex, located at Vitória Beach – Terceira Island, Azores.

The Portuguese were up by two sets, but then, the Belgian side took over the match, having won by 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25, 15-9). The 2nd Qualification Round – return match is due to November 27 at Sportcomplex Molenbos. Winner will face Volejbal Brno (Czech Republic) at the competition’s round of 32.

On its turn, Nuno Pinheiro’s Tours VB reinforced the leadership on CEV Champions League Pool A, by edging ACH Volley Ljubljana (3-1 (23-25, 28-26, 25-21, 25-17)), with the Portuguese setter recording 4 points for the French champion. In Pool D, Alex’s Trentino will play Arkas Izmir today, as well as Valdir Sequeira and Aich/Dob which is visiting Russia’s Zenit Kazan.

As for Chênois Genève Volleyball I of Rui Santos and Paulo Saraiva, it will play at Estonia against Parnu VC for the Challenge Cup. Stod Volley, coached by André Sá, will enter the women’s competition on November 20 against OPE Rethymno (Greece).

Ricardo Ferreira – Winner of TV Ingersol Buhl (Germany) x Landstade Zwolle (The Netherlands) x winner of Nantes Rezé (France) x Bre Banca Cuneo (Italy), to be scheduled, CEV Cup Men Round of 16.
