PORTUGUESE AROUND EUROPE


Regarding this past weekend, we highlight the victory Trentino’s victory in Serie A1 as well as the wins of Tours VB and Polonia IMKA London.

Alexandre Ferreira’s Diatec Trentino has its debult in this year’s Serie A1, edging Ravenna in straight sets (3-0: 25-19, 25-23, 25-19), standing 4th in the table one match less than the three top teams. The Portuguese wing spiker recorded 14 points (8 attacks, 4 blocks, 2 serves).
On the next matchday, due to November 3, the Italian champion will host Exprivia Molfetta (6th). For CEV Champions League, Trentino will play Energy Investments Lugano on matchday 2 (October 31).
In Serie A2, Filipe Pinto’s Itely Milano lost to Sieco Service Ortona (0-3: 17-25, 22-25, 17-25) and ranks 9th. The Portuguese opposite recorded 5 points (4 attacks, 1 serve).

In Ligue A, Nuno Pinheiro’s Tours VB climbed to 3rd after routing Ajaccio (3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 28-26, 26-24)) with the Portuguese setter contributing with 2 points on attack.
On November 2, the French champion will visit Saint-Nazaire (9th).
For CEV Champions League, Tours will be hosting Italian Copra Piacenza on October 30, in a match to be refereed by Avelino Azevedo.
On its turn, AS Cannes of André Lopes fell to 8th after losing to Nantes Rezé (1-3: 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25).
The Portuguese wing spiker recorded 8 points (7 attacks, 1 serve). On the next matchday, scheduled to November 2, Cannes will play Sète (13th).
On Ligue B, Carlos Teixeira’s Tourcoing VB Lille Métropole kept the 9th place despite losing to Asnières (2-3: 25-19, 17-25, 24-26, 25-22 e 16-18), while on the next matchday Teixeira’s team will play Canteleu (3rd).
Regarding Keyla Ramos’ Pays D'Aix Venelles, that now stands 7th on Nationale 2- Pool A – Women, lost to Toulon at home in straight sets (0-3: 23-25, 22-25 e 13-25).

In England, Quélia Monteiro’s Polonia IMKA London edged Ashcombe Dorking (3-0: 25-21, 25-14 e 25-19) and keeps leading the Super 8 – Women. On the next matchday, Polonia will host Wessex Rocare (6th) and on November 16 Malory eagles (3rd).
