Regarding the international competitions, the Club World Championship – Men, being held at Betim, Minas Gerais, Brazil, which is coming to an end this Sunday. Italian Diatec Trentino of Alexandre Ferreira, which has conquered the last four editions and record 21 back-to-back wins in the competition, lost to Argentina’s UPCN San Juan (2-3: 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 25-16, 13-15) and need to win today against Japan’s Panasonic Panthers, in order to advance to the semi finals. Alex recorded 15 points in the last match, but it was his teammate, Bulgarian Tsvetan Sokolov who recorded the most points so far in a match (33).
On its turn, Russian Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, European champion, edged Brazil’s Sada Cruzeiro (3-2: 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 16-14) and can clinch today the top place of pool B against Tunisia’s Sfaxien. [Results & Standings]
