Without Nuno Pinheiro (injury), Tours VB started in the worse way to defend its championship title, by being edged at home against Lyon 1-3 (16-25, 25-22, 20-25, 22-25) in the opening match of Ligue AM. The French champions, yet without Pinheiro, managed to do better in the second round by winning at Montpellier 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-8).
On the other hand, André Lopes’ AS Cannes only knows how to win, beating first Narbonne 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-14) and then Lyon 3-2 (25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 23-25, 15-6)) with the Portuguese player contributing with 7 and 13 points.
Carlos Teixeira’s Tourcoing VB Lille Métropole started its campaign in Ligue B with a loss by (2-3: 25-21, 16-25, 22-25, 29-27, 11-15) against Cambrai, but managed to win in the second round with a (3-1: 25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18) over Martigues.
In Nationale 2 Women - Pool A, Keyla Ramos’ Pays D'Aix Venelles has already played 3 matches, winning the first two matchups (3-0: 25-17, 25-19, 25-20) against L’Union, and (3-0: 25-15, 29-27, 25-14) against US Cadalenoise. The third one resulted in a loss by 0-3: (14-25, 18-25, 13-25) against Racing Club Cannes.

In Germany, Marcel Gil’s RWE Volleys Bottrop will make its debut in Bundesliga 1 on October 16, visiting Evivo Duren.
In the Regional North – Women, Tânia Duarte’s VG Wiwa Hamburg stands 9th after one win and two losses.

In England, Quélia Monteiro’s Polonia IMKA London leads the Super 8 Championship – Women with two victories and one loss over three rounds. (3-0: 25-22, 25-23 e 25-23) against Swiss Cottage; (3-0: 25-19, 25-21 e 25-21), against Team South Wales and (2-3: 25-19, 25-23, 16-25, 14-25 e 8-15) against Team Northumbria.
On the other hand, Sofia Santos’ Team South Wales, after being edged by Polonia, lost again to City Salford (0-3: 13-25, 23-25, 22-25) and rests in the 8th place.

In Italy, Alexandre Ferreira’s Diatec Trentino should host Andreoli Latina on October 20 for the opening round of Serie A1, but the match was postponed due to Trentino’s participation in the Club World Championship.
In Serie A2, the opening round is scheduled for next Sunday as Filipe Pinto’s Itely Milano hosts Vero Volley Monza.

In Austria, Valdir Sequeira’s SK Posojilnica Aich/Dob will make its CEV Champions League debut on October 24, visiting Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, and hosting Lube Banca Marche Macerata on October 30. The friendly match against ACH Volley Ljubljana (MEVZA winners) is due to October 19.

In Norway, Stod Volley Steinkjer, coached by André Sá is playing the Elite division.
After conquered last year the Nordic League, and being Elite division vice-champion, the Norwegians entered this season winning the Fakro Cup at Poland.
