PORTUGUESE AROUND EUROPE
 

The Portuguese playing in foreign clubs continue to merit a fair highlight: some because they still fight for the national title in their respective countries, others because have achieved interesting rankings.

In Germany, Marcel Gil’s RWE Volleys Bottrop (photo) won the Bundesliga 2 North Championship by downing in the last round DJK Delbruck in three sets (3-0: 27-25, 25-14, 25-19).
In the meantime, João José’s VFB Friedrichshafen was beating Generali Haching (3-2: 25-17, 23-25, 25-27, 25-21, 15-12) thus qualifying for the Bundesliga Playoff Final.
The Portuguese middle recorded 12 points in the victory.
At the Final, Friedrichshafen will face BR Volleys on April 21, 28, May 2, 5 and 8 (5 and 8 if necessary).

Playing at home, Nuno PInheiro’s Tours VB won the first match (3-0: 25-23, 25-22, 25-21) and lost the second match (2-3: 25-15, 25-18, 20-25, 26-28, 12-15) to Narbonne, for the Pro A Semi-Finals Playoff. The Portuguese setter recorded 4 points in both matches.
Also in France, Carlos Teixeira’s Stade Poitevin Volley Beach kept the 3rd rank in Nationale 1 by downing in three sets Conflans-Andresy-Jouy (3-0: 25-19, 25-21, 25-21).

Valdir Sequeira’s SK Posojilnica Aich/Dob is tied (1-1) with Hypo Tirol VB in the AVL Superleague Final.
After winning the first match (3-1: 25-23, 27-29, 25-19, 25-23) with 24 points from the Portuguese opposite, Aich/Dob lost (3-2: 25-20, 23-25, 14-25, 25-22, 15-11).
The third match is set to April 17.

Tiago Violas’s Jastrzebski Wegiel SA will play today and tomorrow, Delecta Bydgoszcz the 3rd and 4th match for the 3rd rank in the Plus Liga.
The Portuguese setter’s team lost the 1st match (1-3: 27-25, 24-26, 21-25, 16-25) and won the second one by 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 14-25, 25-22 e 15-11).

Rui Santos’ Chênois Volleyball Club ended the Swiss League in the 4th rank, after being downed by TV Schonenwerd (2-3: 25-20, 20-25, 23-25, 25-21 e 10-15) in the third and final Playoff match.
