20-FEBRUARY-2013
WEEKEND PREVIEW

The National Championship I Division – Men Winners Stage 1st round already showed that the battle for the two Title Playoff spots will be intense. The best example was the over 2 hour -duel between two championship contenders (AJF Bastardo and SC Espinho), with the defending champions claiming the victory in the tie-break.

The 2nd round promises to be as much emotive as the 1st, thus a clash between titans (SL Benfica and SC Espinho) is set to next Sunday.
Entering the court with similar goals (gain the 3 points) but with distinctive consequences - if Benfica wins it will widen the gap to the 2nd ranked team, while if Espinho wins by 3-0 or 3-1 it will come closer to the 1st place – the match scheduled to 15h00 at Estádio da Luz n. º 2 Hall is set to be an entertaining volleyball dispute.

On Saturday, SC Espinho hosts Vitória SC and SL Benfica visits Castelo da Maia GC.

Following these matches closely, will be AJF Bastardo (3rd ranked), which will visit Esmoriz GC on Saturday and Vitória SC on Sunday. [Standings]

The Losers Stage round will be played throughout the weekend.
On Saturday the struggle for the 1st place of the Losers Stage will put head-to-head SC Caldas and GC Vilacondense, 1st and 2nd respectively. In the same day, CS Marítimo (5th) and Leixões (6th) will play to avoid relegation. On Sunday morning, Clube K(4th) and AA Espinho (5th) will play at Azores.

The National Championship I Division – Women Winners Stage starts this weekend surrounded with great expectation, mainly because the gap between the leaders (CD Ribeirense and Leixões CS) and the 4th place occupied by Castelo da Maia GC is only a three point margin, which is reachable in a double-fixture 4 turns stage. [Standings]

The inaugural round brings two clashes: GDC Gueifães x CD Ribeirense and Leixões SC x Castelo da Maia GC. The teams will play Saturday and again on Sunday, which favors rectifications on the strategy. [Competition]

The Losers Stage inaugural round is scheduled to 3rd March.
