The National Championship I Division – Men 2nd Stage is set to start in the upcoming weekend, with the Winners and Losers Stage inaugural round. [Competition]

In the series that includes the 1st Stage top 6 ranked teams, which will battle for the two top spots, thus granting a Championship Playoff presence, the highlights of this round go to AJF Bastardo x SC Espinho, where the defending champions will visit the 2011 National Champions at Azores.

Vitória SC x Castelo da Maia GC, which will be televised (15h00) on SportTV, could mean a positive entrance in the Winners Stage for these two underdogs. The round will be complete with the match between SL Benfica (1st Stage winner) and Esmoriz GC. [1st Stage Standings]

The balance will mark the Losers Stage inaugural round: SC Caldas hosts Clube K, while GC Vilacondense hosts CS Marítimo. AA Espinho will play at home against Leixões SC.

This weekend’s volleyball menu also includes the Cup of Portugal Quarter-finals.

For the Cup of Portugal – Women, Leixões SC x AA S.Mamede and Boavista FC x CD Ribeirense are set to Saturday. On Sunday the matchup will be CF Belenenses/Blue x GDC Gueifães, while SC Espinho x CSD Câmara de Lobos will not take place, as the team from Madeira announced that it will not travel to play in the mainland. Also on Sunday, the last fixture of the Cup of Portugal – Men Quarter-finals is to be played, as Castelo da Maia GC and CS Marítimo will battle to join AJF Bastardo, CA Madalena and Vitória SC in the cup’s semi-finals.

Regarding the National Championship I Division – Women, the Winners Stage is scheduled to 23rd and 24th February, while the Losers Stage is set to a week later [Competition]
