JUNIOR NATIONAL TEAM MEETS THE 2013
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OPPONENTS
 

The Junior National Team (men and women) met today its opponents for the 2013 Junior World Championship Qualification Round.

The Under-21 Men, playing the qualifying pool B, will face Belgium, Poland, France and Latvia, hosted by France from 7-12 May 2013.

Pool A – Russia (host country), Greece, Denmark, Montenegro and Austria
Pool B – Belgium, Poland, France (host), Portugal and Latvia
Pool C – Bulgaria (host), Germany, Estonia, Romania and Israel
Pool D – Serbia (host), Spain, Slovakia, Finland, Czech Republic and Croatia

The first ranked teams of each pool will join the 2013 U-21 WC Final Round hosting country (Turkey) and the defending European Champion (Italy), to dispute the title from August 22 to September 1 at Ancara and Izmir.

The Under-20 Women, playing the qualifying pool A, will face Serbia (host), Belgium, France and Denmark, from 7-12 May 2013.

Pool A – Serbia (host), Belgium, France, Portugal and Denmark
Pool B – Italy (host), Slovakia, Finland and Spain
Pool C – Germany, Bulgaria (host), Croatia, Greece and Latvia
Pool D – Russia (host), Poland, Romania and Slovenia

The first ranked teams of each pool will join the 2013 U-20 WC Final Round hosting country (Czech Republic) and the 2012 European Champion (Turkey), to dispute the title from June 21-30 at Brno and Prostejov.

Portugal will be in action in other competitions. Women National Team will play the 2014 Women World Championship Qualifying 2nd Round. The men’s team will only participate in the 3rd round of the competition scheduled for May 2014.

Men National Team has its great challenge set to June and July of this year. From June 13-16 to July 13-14, the Men National Team will play the 2013 CEV European League, along with Turkey, Israel and Belarus.

Portugal will play its opponents in four consecutive weekends (tournament system):
June 13-17 – @ Belarus
June 20-23 – @ Israel
June 27-30 – @ Turkey
July 4-7 – @ Portugal

The first ranked teams from each pool will qualify for the Final Four, along with the host country team, being in this case, Turkey. In the event of the hosting country being ranked first of its pool, the 2nd best ranked of all pools is qualified also.
