2013 YOUTH EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP:
PORTUGUESE ENDS PARTICIPATION WITH WIN
 

Boys Youth National Team, coached by Ricardo Rocha and Daniel Lacerda ended its participation of the Qualifying Pool C for the 2013 Youth European Championship with a victory in straight sets over Israel (3-0: 25-23, 25-11 e 25-18).

Bernardo Martis was the match’s top scorer with 18 points recorded (11 attacks, 6 serves, 1 block).

With this victory, the Portuguese boys held the 4th place of Pool C’s standings, played in the Czech city of Nitra.

The 1st and 2nd ranked teams clinch a spot at the final round, while the remaining teams are eliminated.
The 2013 European Championship Final Round is to be played at Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

On their turn, the Portuguese girls, coached by Gilda Harris and Paula Semedo were very close to reach the 3rd position, but the opponents fought their way back in the final game of the Qualifying Pool B for the 2013 Youth European Championship held at Brno.
Portugal lost (2-3: 26-24, 25-20, 23-25, 20-25 e 14-16) to Hungary, after being up by two sets.

Inês Alves was the match’s top scorer with 27 points.

The 2013 European Championship Final Round is to be played at Serbia and Montenegro.

Both Portuguese parties will travel together from Vienna (Austria), arriving at Porto tomorrow around 11h10 from the flight LH 1176 departed from Frankfurt (Germany).
