YOUTH EURO’13 QUALIFICATION
SET TO START TOMORROW
 

Youth National Teams, boys and girls, are already en route to Slovakia and Czech Republic, respectively, where they will begin tomorrow the battle for a place at the 2013 Youth European Championships.

Youth National Team – Girls, coached by the Cuban Gilda Harris, assisted by Paula Semedo, will play the 2013 Youth European Championship Qualifying Pool B, to be held at Brno. Starting tomorrow, Portugal will play the Czech Republic (tomorrow 16h30), Germany (January 5, 11h30), Latvia (January 6, 16h30) and Hungary (January 7, 11h30). The Youth European Championship – Girls Final Round will take place at Serbia and Montenegro.

“We asked them to dignify Portugal. The teams of Germany, Czech Rep and Hungary are very strong, but I believe that our girls will do everything to dignify their country.” stated Paula Semedo.

Youth National Team – Boys, will play the 2013 Youth European Championship Qualifying Pool C, against Poland (tomorrow, 14h00), Bulgaria (January 4, 19h00), Slovakia (January 5, 17h30), England (January 6, 14h00) and Israel (January 7, 16h30).

The first ranked team will claim a spot in the Final Round, while the 2nd and 3rd of each pool will play the Third Round of Qualification.

The Youth European Championship – Boys Final Round will take place at Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

“Poland, Bulgaria and Slovakia are the favorites, while England and Israel are more accessible opponents in theory. Poland and Bulgaria are two great world powerhouses. We need to be aggressive and stay within our game strategy in every game to be able to win points at the crucial stage of the sets”, said Ricardo Rocha.

The National Teams had a last test before the qualification stage, as they participated in the 9th Guadalajara International Tournament, won by Spain (girls) and Tunisia (boys). [Standings]
