EUROPEAN COMPETITIONS

The European Competitions return.
VFB Friedrichshafen, team captained by Portuguese João José, will play
tomorrow Zenit Kazan, leader of CEV Champions League’s Pool A, in the
5th and last but one matchday.
The match is very important for the German team, which stands 3rd in the
pool, but is in the hunt for a 12-team playoff spot. [Standings]
With similar circumstances but in a better position is Nuno Pinheiro’s
Tours VB stands in 3rd of pool C but with the same points of the 2nd
ranked team.
Tours will visit tomorrow Italian powerhouse Trentino Diatec, leaders of
the pool. A hard task which got worse after the 4-time Club World
Champions announced that will not make it easier for anyone. [Standings]
For the CEV Challenge Cup – Women, Norwegian Stod Volley Steinkjer,
coached by André Sá, will face on Thursday Jedinstvo Brcko in Bosnia &
Herzegovina, in a round of 32 1st leg match.
For the CEV Challenge Cup – Men, Rui Santos’ Chênois Volleyball Club,
which was eliminated of CEV Cup, will face tomorrow the Bulgarian team
CVC Gabrovo.
