SPORT ZONE SUPERCUP IN THE
MULTISPORTS HALL OF COIMBRA

The Portuguese Volleyball Federation (FPV), Coimbra City Hall (CMC) and
AA Coimbra, presented today to the press the 2012 Sport Zone Supercup,
Senior Men, which will take place on the next October 5, at 17h30, in
the Multisports Hall of Coimbra.
The 14th edition of the Super Cup which will put face-to-face the
National Champion, SC Espinho and the Portuguese Cup winner, SL Benfica,
will also be live broadcasted by Sport TV [Press
accreditation]
The tickets for attending the event will cost 5 euros and they can be
purchased from next week in the FPV headquarters, or solicited by email.
From October 3, the tickets will also be available in the Multisports
Hall of Coimbra ticket office and the city’s tourism offices.
In the press conference were present Luís Providência (Municipal Sports
Councilor), Teodemiro de Carvalho (FPV General Secretary) and Manuel
Leal (AA Coimbra Vice-President for Volleyball).
Luís Providência began his speech by welcoming all the event actors:
“I wish to thank the Portuguese Volleyball Federation for bringing this
event to Coimbra, in the same year that we hosted the Portuguese Cup
Final. I wish to thank also AA Coimbra for their commitment in
developing the sport in our city, which allowed us to continually host
such events as this. One final appreciation to the City of Coimbra for
hosting the volleyball family, and I believe we are set to appreciate a
great show from both teams with a packed crowd here in the Multisports
Hall. I hope both teams feel at home”.
Teodemiro de Carvalho said:
“We’re very pleased to return to Coimbra with our events. I wish to
thank the City Hall for this partnership that we expect to be a
long-term venture. We would to keep receiving the city’s support both in
domestic as international competitons. We also wish to thank AA Coimbra
for their logistic support.
This match will be a replay from last year’s championship final, were
these two teams staged one of the most emotional finishes of the last
years. This is the first official event of the 2012/2013 season, thus is
highly expected for everyone. We are inviting students from the region
schools that wish to attend this great show".
Manuel Leal stated:
“It’s a great honor for AA Coimbra to collaborate once again with an
event of such importance like this. The Sport Zone Supercup will be
disputed by the two best sides of the Portuguese volleyball and I would
like to invite all to come and enjoy the spectacular show that they will
put here in the court. I also wish to thank the Coimbra City Hall and
the Portuguese Volleyball Federation for bringing here once again a high
level volleyball competition”.
The Super Cup has been played since 1990, being this trophy won by
several teams along the time. Castelo da Maia GC has won the trophy for
5 times, Sporting Clube de Espinho 4 times, Sporting Clube de Portugal
for 3 times and Sport Lisboa e Benfica for once. [Honours]
