EURO’13: BELARUS IS IN;
TURKEY WILL PLAY FOR A SPOT

Following the Belarus victory (3-2), over Great Britain opened various scenarios to the National Team. Beating Turkey by 3-0 or 3-1, Portugal would reach the first place in Pool A. If Portugal could beat Turkey by 3-2 or lose by the same result, they would maintain the second place, thus having to play Latvia for the 2013 European Championship spot.

Neither of what written before happened as Portugal was defeated by Turkey 1-3 (12-25, 25-23, 20-25 e 20-25). The National Team had a very slow start e never managed to recover from it, having lost the first set 12-25.

The second set was better played and the Portuguese team was able to control the scorer and their opponent, having won 25-23.

The third and fourth set was the confirmation that Portugal had succumbed to the pressure and that the Turkish were set to play against Latvia, finishing Pool A in the second place. Both sets ended 20-25 favorable to Turkey.

Emre Batur with 22 points was the match best scorer.
