GERMANY STAYS AHEAD IN POOL D

Germany sealed a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-18) win over Argentina in the second day of action in Pool D of the 2012 FIVB Volleyball World League in Guimarães, Portugal on Saturday.

Germany used their most experienced players and didn’t allow Argentina into the game at all.

The Europeans stormed into the match as Bohme and Gunthor dominated alongside Gyorgy Grozer. Argentina stayed in touch but never caught up as they went down in the opening set.

The second set was different as Argentina put pressure on the Germans through serves and attack and were rewarded with the lead. But Germany regrouped with Grozer tying at 11 points and with two aces, gave his team the lead before they went on to seal the set.

Germany took advantage of the strong serve from Grozer to pick up precious points in the third. The reaction from Argentina saw them score six consecutive points. But Germany stirred once again to finish off the match.

Germany’s Gyorgy Grozer was the best scorer of the match with 19 points, while Pablo Bengolea was the top scorer for Argentina with 11.
